Do you pick School of Nursing or University?

Lovely Nurses, this one is for you, Let's discuss.

To become a nurse in Nigeria you need to go through, School of Nursing (SON) or the University.

Which one do you think is better?

I will tell you that they both have their perks and the downside. I went through both.

SON Perks!
  • Sound practical experience
  • 3 years of study only
  • You can still travel and practice outside Nigeria with just your RN certificate, (this will be an extensive topic).
Guys what other perks do you have with SON???
  • Oh yes some pay stipend. I know i was paid N10,000 back then.
  • School fees were super-cheap too. Mine was N2,000 only.

University perks!
  • Sound body of knowledge
  • More interaction with other students.
  • You can easily transfer to another department, if you feel nursing is not for you. (Not easy though but you can).
  • Unfortunately its 5 years which can give you opportunity to right your wrongs academically.
