Do you pick School of Nursing or University??? part 2





Oh let's get down to the cons. This may get a bit controversial 
and emotional. 

SON cons:
  • Sometimes, I said sometimes ooo, the tutors treat the students like they are still in primary school. It can be quite annoying but once you graduate you laugh it off.
  • The clinical posting were a lot. But then the experience is worth it.
  • You may feel like you have not completed your education because your childhood mates all have degrees. So you need to get into a University which is another 4 years. It is tedious. 

University Cons:
  • Hostels/living accommodations were "ewwish''. But you can live outside the campus if you want to.
  • Some schools have common lecture rooms with other departments. Like you will have same anatomy classes with radiology, physiotherapy students, medical lab. students and medical students. Trust me the lecture halls are always packed. At first, we woke up by 6 am to secure a space for lectures. 
  • I am inclined to think the fees were higher.

Living in Nigeria in the time of Covid-19 (Worship Centers and Transportation) By Dr Nonye and Ugomma

Corona virus does not seem to be disappearing anytime soon. Countries are trying to adjust their system to reduce the spread and also promote easing lock down. In other words, 'adjusting life to accommodate covid-19 in the society,' till it is eradicated.  Nigeria has unique characteristics, therefore the methodology adopted to stop the spread should be tailored to the needs of Nigerians.  The general message still remains, stay at home; keep 2 meters apart; wash/sanitize your hands and build your immunity. Worship centers in Nigeria: Nigeria has large population, making it very difficult for people to stay 2 meters apart in worship centers. So what can we do? Stay at home. When the lock down has been eased, continue to stay at home and worship in your house. If you insist that you need to go to your place of worship after lock-down has been eased, stay 2 meters apart.  Church administrators can start now, to consider no contact type of worship. Is mental health a public health issue? According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), public health seeks to promote health; prolong life and prevent diseases. It helps individuals, organisations and even communities to address issues of preventable disease, mortality and disability.  While mental health, helps to improve the general well-being of an individual, their quality of life, it is protective against acute and chronic physical illnesses. Mental health goes beyond an absence of mental illness. It includes, promotion of mental health and general well being. Thereby, tackling preventable diseases, morbidity and mortality. This shows that mental health is a public health issue. The challenges faced by people of colour (especially blacks) include: Non-acceptance Racial profiling/being unfairly stopped by the police and police brutality.
