Have you had patients that refused to go home?

Please my people help me....the challenges of private practice.

A teenage pregnant sick patient is rushed to your facility by a lady who claimed that her brother is the one responsible for the pregnancy.

She pleaded that treatment be commenced to save the lady's life even without making any deposit with the reassurance that she would run around for money in the course of the treatment. She kept coming the following few days after the young lady was admitted, reassuring that she is running around for money. But since she realized that the young lady has been stabilized medically, the supposed next of kin was never seen again.

All attempts to reach her on phone failed as she blocked all numbers calling from the facility where the pregnant lady was admitted.

Unfortunately days ran into weeks and about to run into month, yet no other relative, no friends, or even enemies has shown up. The young lady is said to have left home and lost her family's contact since 2019.

After seeing how the patient was lamenting bitterly about how she wished it were in UNTH she was admitted so as to at least have access to hospital free food and also get financial assistance from people in order to take care of her pressing personal needs, the hospital decided to allow her home even without paying kobo.

The problem now is that she has refused to go home...her reason being that her house rent has expired and the landlord has since thrown her things out. Secondly, that she doesn't have transport fare to go to the house of the boy responsible for the pregnancy.

Please what do you guys make of this story?
Please what is the best way to disengage this type of patient from your facility if you were the owner of the hospital?

From every indication, her problem is complex.
No family!!! No friends!!!! No enemies!!!

By God's grace, transport will be sourced for her by tomorrow but I am concerned.

A lot of questions have been running through my mind...what if she gets to the so called boyfriend's house and meets an empty apartment? How would she continue to feed in her pregnant condition? What becomes the faith of the unborn baby? How will she cope with parenting without support?

Note that the guy responsible for the pregnancy is an applicant who is even unable to provide food for himself.

Honestly, she needs support. ...
Kindly tag any NGO you know that might be of help.
Her social history is quite pathetic....the hospital have done the best they can at the moment.

I guess the facility should have a social welfare package or programs. Of which, has been running smoothly should have good means for such person. Or better still take her to motherless homes, may some one could pick her up for surrogacy
Yes, however this facility is a private hospital. They managed to contact an NGO that has related services. However, this situation highlights the need to have a comprehensive health system.
